The posterior chain is so vital to human athletic performance. It is made up of many muscles, ligaments, tendons in the back/rear of the human body. In fact it is so important that Greg Glassman, founder of Crossfit stated, that the posterior chain is the most influential muscle group in the body. He further stated:
“Powerful hip extension alone is necessary and nearly sufficient for elite athletic performance. That is, our experience has been that no one without the capacity for powerful hip extension enjoys great athletic prowess, and nearly everyone we’ve met with that capacity was a great athlete.” *
Two key areas of this posterior chain are the glutes and hamstrings as described further below.
Tight glutes are nice looking, but not nice feeling! If your glutes are not firing (pun definitely intended) properly due to trigger points or knots, then the rest of your body won't either. The glutes are your powerhouse of the body so they should work at optimal level. Additionally, if your glutes are not functioning well, it can mess with many areas of your body, including your knee as well as mess with your squatting/running.
To help your glutes, sometimes a lacrosse ball feels good, but often it doesn't target certain areas well. And a foam roller is nice, if you are first trying trigger point therapy, but it doesn't really get the job done. The UBALL really gives a deep tissue massage, for example like getting one from someone else's elbow. The UBALL is an awesome tool that you can use throughout your body, including your glutes to free it to move and feel great so it can fire away!

When your hamstrings are loose and mobile, you'll know it! And when they are tight, locked up, and not working right, you'll know it, too! If you sit a lot your hamstrings get gnarly and tight or if get a slight pull then it can hinder so much of the movements you like to perform. Get those hamstrings to move well with the UBALL! It can help to loose your hamstrings due to its unique shape and firmness.
